President Trump - Please Remember Your Promises to Us



Dear President Trump,

          You made many, many promises and guarantees while campaigning for the highest office in the land and you have succeeded beyond just about everyone’s wildest expectations. You are now my president too and all who voted for you expect you to honor every one of those promises. I don’t want you to forget what you told us you would do, many times "on day one", or  "as soon as I'm elected", so I have kept a list of things you repeated to crowds all over the U.S. These are certainly not all of your promises, but it is a good start…so here we go:

Mr. President, how soon will you repeal the Affordable Care Act, or "ObamaCare", and replace it with your better program? You guaranteed this at virtually every rally so please don't let us down on this one as we're counting on you to toss it ALL out.

How soon can we expect a Special Prosecutor to look into Hillary Clinton’s lies and email scandal and see to it she is jailed? Even if Obama's last executive order is pardoning her, don't let her off the hook. "LOCK HER UP" means exactly that.

How soon will the wall along the Mexican border go up, and how will the Mexicans be forced to pay for it?

How soon will you start hiring Americans to begin building that wall from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean? How much will they be paid per hour...on average? What kind of wall will it be - the type of materials used, its length, width, height, will it be electrified, how deep will it go...etc.?

How soon can you begin deporting all 11 to 12 million undocumented workers and illegal immigrants including small children who were born here?

How soon will you hire the huge number of agents that will be needed to search for, arrest, and deport them? In what will they be deported...truck, train, boat, airplane...etc.? Where will they be held until deportation? Will they be provided with any medical care, water or food while waiting? How will that be paid for?

How soon will we see your “great economic plan”. And when can we expect to “double our growth and have the strongest economy anywhere in the world”? (Which you said on national TV on 11/09/16, the day after you were elected.)

How soon will you release your tax records so we are finally treated to proof you are as rich and successful as you have continually reminded us you are?

How soon can we expect you to reform the Veterans Administration?

How soon will the ban on Muslims entering the U.S.be put into effect?

You have said repeatedly that when you become president “ISIS...GONE!” and that you have a plan to get rid of them. Then you said once you became president, your generals will have 30 days to come up with a plan (why do they need 30 days when you already have a plan?). What is your timeline for ISIS to be “GONE”? Will you commit to using U.S. soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines to engage in combat wherever ISIS fighters are located?

How soon will you scrap NAFTA and the Trans-Pacific Pact and renegotiate the treaties?

How soon can we expect you to impose up to 35% higher tariffs on Chinese and Mexican goods dumped on our markets, all while keeping the deficit in check?.

How soon will you cut the taxes on the wealthy and on businesses?

How soon will you overhaul the Tax Code as you guaranteed at most rallies?

How soon will the U.S. withdraw from any agreement that tries to curtail climate change?

How soon will you tear up the Iran/nuclear deal and renegotiate it?

How soon will we renegotiate our military agreement with NATO?

How soon can you start to fix the nation’s roads, waterways and railroad infrastructure?

How soon before we can finally see some curtailment of the First Amendment by changing the libel laws, making it easier to sue someone?

Will you immediately strengthen the Second Amendment so that no one, now or in the future, can take any of our guns away or weaken what kind of firearms, clips and ammo we can own?

How soon will you appoint Supreme Court Justices who will overturn same sex marriage and Roe v Wade? And as an added bonus, how soon will you establish a punishment for women who have an abortion?

How soon will you implement a program to fix the inner cities where you said African-Americans suffer from 50% jobless rates, failing schools, and crime so rampant people are afraid to leave their homes?

How soon will our CIA and military be allowed to use torture, waterboarding, carpet bombing…and, as you put it, “much worse”, again?

How soon will we be able to pursue and kill the families of terrorists in foreign countries? What kind of standing army will we need to carry that out and prevent retaliatory attacks on the U.S. or American families overseas?

How soon will you force China, Mexico, India, Vietnam and other places you said have taken our jobs, to return them to us?

You said you were going to be the “Law & Order” president. What will that mean? How much will the police forces grow? How will those additional officers be paid with so many taxes being cut?

As your spokesman Dan Scavino Jr. tweeted on October 25, 2016 “Watch what happens to her after the election”, how soon can we expect Megyn Kelly to be removed from Fox News? What WILL happen to her?

We’d love to have a time line so we know how quickly we will see our nation returning to its perceived lost Greatness.

The Rigged Election



Donald Trump was right…the election was rigged.

He warned us over and over for the past four months and we didn’t listen.

The election results would be fraudulent.

As the Orlando Sentinel put it on November 9, 2016, if there was a word of the year, it was “rigged”…Trump was the primary instigator. He spread conspiracy theories about rampant voter fraud and accused reporters of unfairly covering his campaign.

And Trump was right; reporters did unfairly cover his campaign in that they unfairly reported exactly what he said and what went on at the rallies; the assaults on dissenting voices, the shouts of “Jew-S-A” at the press, the made-up stories of an assassination attempt that the Secret Service TOLD Trump immediately afterward was just a man (a Trump supporter, no less) with a cardboard sign...there was never any gun, the crass bragging about his wealth while refusing to release his tax records to prove it, and disparaging minorities, women, and people with disabilities. The media constantly mentioned the huge crowds so Trump can’t complain about unfair coverage on that point.

But notice that Trump was the primary instigator of the rigging conspiracy.

He said the system was slanted repeatedly. When he projects things onto other people that HE is actually guilty of; how clear does he have to tell you that he’s really talking about himself?

One Pro-Trump supporter tweeted “There is plenty of evidence of voter fraud and machines flipping.” This was sent via Twitter on Election Day afternoon. Who was benefiting from that voter fraud and machine flipping?

Now that he’s won, will Trump apologize to the American people and admit the system wasn’t rigged after all?

Don’t hold your breath.

Trump will give them their privileged positions back

I continually wonder why anyone would vote for Trump, baffled by how his supporters can ignore his crude comments about women, where grabbing them by the crotch is somehow considered locker-room-talk-acceptable, where women are simply aesthetically pleasing objects, should be punished for having an abortion, or are dogs, pigs, slobs, and disgusting animals. Where promises made and then broken about Trump releasing his tax records doesn’t upset any of them. Where he demands to know, three times in less than an hour interview, if the U.S. has nuclear weapons, why we don’t use them? (Apparently forgetting we DID in August 1945.) I was still searching Friday night when I happened to have a conversation with a newscaster at one of the radio stations where I work. My co-worker is a reporter for the news/talk station. We had a 15-minute window to discuss the current election and he talked about people he interviewed at a Trump rally last week in Sanford, Florida. What he told me confirmed what I had long suspicioned but had no concrete proof until these Trump supporters out-and-out admitted it.

People are supporting Trump because he is promising them that they can have their privileged positions back.

It doesn’t matter that he can’t deliver on any of it. He verbally soothes their ruffled feathers to let them know that they will once again have those lofty places on pedestals, and receive the preferential treatment they deserve. Just elect him and he will make sure they get it all back.

A white male and two females the reporter talked to identified themselves as evangelical Christians and they were thrilled that Trump has guaranteed them they will have their positions of power and privilege returned. It would make for a better world where biblical law was the law of the land, where other laws would be re-enacted to secure Christianity’s unassailable position above all other religions across the country, where stores closed according to biblical dictates; like no working on Sunday, where school-led prayers would be everyday occurrences, ten commandment monuments and plaques would be commonplace in government buildings, and the Supreme Court would automatically strike down laws that went against biblical teaching, like same-sex marriage and women holding a position of authority over men, like, say, president. (Guess who that was aimed at?).They did say Mormons, Moslems, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Jews, and others would be free to worship, just out of sight, out of mind… where any Christian could not see them.(Although one woman did say she was not in favor of it because those people worshiped false gods) They were also sick of seeing caucasians pushed to the side. Trump would fix that.

Another man was a former factory worker. He had completed 10^th grade but didn’t need college as he used to have a fairly good paying job on an assembly line in Michigan. He was angered about all the American jobs that were sent overseas and supported Trump because he would bring those jobs back. He was glad Trump would build a wall to keep all the Mexicans out. They were taking American jobs. The reporter asked him if his job was sent to Mexico…would it be returned by Trump…and did he want it back? The guy said his job was still in Michigan, but that his position has been automated. He had been replaced by a computerized machine. He was asked if he went back to get trained to work the machine. “Hell no,” the guy responded, “but we got to get our manufacturing jobs back. Those are American jobs!” What kind of pay would he want to do those old manufacturing jobs? He felt he was worth $25 to $30 an hour. The reporter didn’t mention that very same job in Mexico paid $8.50 an hour, nor was Jose coming here to take a job away.  

Another group holding up anti-gay signs said they were fed up with seeing LGBTQ people get so many rights that they didn’t deserve. They claimed the Pulse shooting in Orlando gave these people national exposure and changed the way they were seen in society. The reporter asked, “Should they be discriminated against?” “Well, they shouldn’t have the same laws and rights we have. It’s not right.” one man was blunt enough to say. Trump will repeal all those liberal laws so that his supporters are once again allowed to be politically incorrect and treat others with disdainful behavior and unethical actions. Hell, they’ve earned the right.

Trump's supporters are quick to condemn Hillary Clinton in the most derogatory and threatening manner possible. It gives them a fallback position. But it is because, like with religion, Trump makes one empty promise after another and his followers don’t need even a hint of evidence that he’ll deliver; he’s the only candidate who is telling them they can have their pedestals back and return to a lofty position of looking down on everyone else like it was meant to be in their dreams.

What a privilege.

The Coming Civil War

I hope I am wrong. I really, fervently hope I am completely off-base and that I’m worrying about nothing. But the signs are there that my worrying appears to be quite justified. I never thought this country could be threatened with ANOTHER civil war.

In the United States, we are about to elect a new president. Every other presidential candidate in past elections has gone along with the 240-year-old tradition that they would abide by the American people’s decision on Election Day. Even in the cases of very, very close elections like in 1876, 1960 and 2000, no candidate has, prior to this election, said that he would contest the outcome or even threatened to do so out of petulance, beforehand. And all of those candidates stayed within the framework of U.S. law.

Until now.

And what this will possibly lead to...is a civil war.

 On October 9, 2016, in his debate with Hillary Clinton, feeding on his assertion that the whole election system is rigged against him, Donald Trump refused to say whether he would accept the election results with “I will tell you at the time. I’ll keep you in suspense, okay?”  He followed it up on October 20th by stating he would accept them...if he wins.Those are not empty words to his followers. He is telling them ahead of time that only he should win. If he loses, it proves the system is rigged against him. And since he will leave us in suspense when that happens, his Schutzstaffel-like followers will know he was cheated and act out everything violent they’ve displayed at his rallies, only now on a national scale. Think I'm kidding?

Remember cowboy-hatted redneck John McGraw who climbed past several people to lash out and punch Rakeem Jones, a passing protester being escorted out of the rally in Fayetteville, North Carolina? This will become a weekly, then daily, and finally, an hourly event. It may get even worse since afterward Mr. McGraw said on live TV that “Maybe next time we’ll have to kill him…” Several White Supremacist organizations and right-wing fringe groups have come right out and said there will be an armed insurrection if Trump doesn't win. So expect shooting, burning, drowning, hanging…it’s all good because Trump has his crack legal team ready to defend them. Besides, someone has to stand up to those ISIS-sympathizin’,America-hatin’,non-older angry white, "libtards" who won’t kowtow to Trumpism, in whatever form he decides in best for the nation.

Remember Shirley Teters of Asheville, NC, the 69-year-old grandmother on oxygen who was punched by a Trump supporter as the guy left a rally? Police were later informed the same man had grabbed and punched several other protesters inside and outside the building before slugging Shirley in the face, knocking her to the sidewalk and bashing her head against her portable oxygen tank. This will become an acceptable way of dealing with those people Trump supporters don’t like. If you don’t love the leader, you don’t deserve to be here...at least not without fresh blood pouring out of some wounds.

 Remember Trump himself bragging to his audience that he could shoot someone and not lose any support? The allusion there was, no one would stop him before or after he pulled the trigger because everyone loves him. He is giving his followers an open invitation to do the same. Find some liberal SOB who most likely supported Clinton…and shoot them...on Fifth Avenue. Do you think Trump is going to stop them? 

These are just the tip of an iceberg of hatred, violence, animosity, malevolence, and vengeance that will lead to a torrent of blood spilling. People who are not older white Anglo-Saxon Protestants (and even a few who are) yet have had absolutely nothing to do with Clinton’s success or Trump's failure will also be drawn into a fight or a battle just for living here...and they will pay dearly for it.

Trump commands not a group of supporters; he’s now their cult leader. They’ll follow him and do whatever he says as if he was Jim Jones, David Koresh, Charles Manson, Idi Amin, and Joseph Kony rolled into one. These men are or were demagogues. They thought they were the center of the universe; everyone else orbited around them and did their bidding. Trump will expect no less from his followers. And he understands what "low information" voters they are.

If Donald J. Trump loses the election...after whining and complaining that the deck has been deliberately stacked against him, the political polls and the media have been misrepresenting his support, the whole system is rigged, and that Hillary Clinton is a criminal, unfit to be president, and should be in jail, if not dead...his followers will not say “well, it was a tough election, but Hillary won. Let’s put aside our differences and work to make our nation the best it can be.”

They will want blood.

I hope I am wrong, but I am concerned that I am not.

Pot Halloween-Scare is a Monstrous Lie

What better than a good scare for Halloween 2016? We’ve got it in Orlando. Never mind Halloween Horror Nights at Universal, SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular, the Spooky Empire Horror Convention, or even Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom. Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demmings held a news conference on Monday October 24^th with the express purpose of frightening the wits out of Central Floridians with the alarm that “Marijuana-laced candy might”…MIGHT…”be put in trick-or-treat bags for Halloween”. Not that they would, just that they might. And here’s the really neat trick. It’s all because medical marijuana could be legalized on November 8^th, fully a week after Halloween.

So a proposed constitutional amendment that hasn’t passed yet, although it's pretty certain it will, is the cause for all the alarm by Sheriff Demmings. When politely asked for examples of when and where children had received marijuana-laced candies…even in states where marijuana is legal, Demmings couldn’t offer any. He admitted that “even though the potential for the marijuana edibles appearing this year may be somewhat minimal, it is still a threat in our community.” Yes, just like the threat to our community of being gunned down by rogue police officers or having an engine fall off of an airliner on the approach to OIA and killing someone. Possibility equals actuality in Demmings playbook. But is Sheriff Demmings going to protect us from either of those two possibilities, as well? Of course not!  

It's better to scare the voters with fictional pot-laced candy horror stories.

            Demmings also added this dire warning “I believe the passage of the amendment could be problematic and would negatively impact the overall public safety of our community.” How will its passage on November 8^th harm the kids on October 31^st? Do the pot candy pushers have a time machine to go back over a week from when medical marijuana is legalized on November 8^th, or sometime thereafter, with reams of the now-legal pot-infused candy to foist on unsuspecting kids?

But drug warriors like Demmings insist it's better this way.

            Tellingly, this whole Chicken Little press conference was hosted by the anti-medical marijuana group “Don’t Let Florida Go to Pot”, a sky-is-falling local group from Pine Hills that claims, without any evidence, that people in other states are putting edible marijuana in packages that look appealing to children. Demmings called these phantasms that are packaging the pot candies in other states “mean-spirited people” who are just trying to “create confusion and injure our children.” Demmings finally made the claim that Colorado is where kids might have gotten the pot edibles while trick-or-treating. The Associated Press had reported on an incident in 2014…yes, two years ago…where eight kids in Colorado ate some pot brownies, but it turned out to be a case of bad parenting at an adult party where the brownies were left right where the kids in the house could find them. None of the kids got them while going door to door. That was the only incident the Associated Press found. Marijuana was legalized in the state in 2012. If it was such a danger, one would think there would be hundreds of stories like that by now. There are not.

The HELL with saving him...we've got to defend the kids who are not being offered pot.

            But why let the facts get in the way? It serves Sheriff Demmings anti-drug agenda, (where Orange County is enriched by continuing its drug war efforts) better by scaring everyone with an imaginary monster than to admit his concerns are baseless.

On Your Knees for Trump



While watching CFN13 our local cable news outlet in early October 2016, a segment was aired about how leading conservatives, fearing a lower voter turnout in Florida on November 8^th, are launching an evangelical campaign called “Face Down 40”. It’s intended to reawaken the religious right by praying, fasting, and then voting for Donald Trump for president. Face Down 40 takes its name from people bowing their heads in supplication for the 40 days leading up to the general election.

 

If prayer works, and social conservative and Face Down 40 organizer Pam Olsen claims it does, why has whoever they are praying to let come it to this, begging for his attention just 40 days before the vote? This seems to be a rather uncaring and capricious being on whom they are wasting their breath. What is He waiting for? Pam Olsen revealed how much she trusts prayer to work when she says "If we go back to sleep again (as she thinks Christians did in 2008 and 2012), just like we've done so many times, then we're in trouble and it's on us.” So what good is praying? If just two of you Christians pray for something, doesn’t Matthew 18: 19-20 where it says “Again, I tell you truly that if two of you on the earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven. For where two or three gather together in My name, there am I with them,” guarantee it will happen? I have read numerous Christian responses to this piece of scripture, all claiming that it is taken out of context. Read the paragraphs before and after it. What caveats does Jesus impose? “Anything you ask for, it will be done for you…” There is no “but only if you do this, this, and this first”, or "it only applies to the most holy among you.” Christians use those excuses to get themselves out of a hole they’ve dug themselves into.

 

            Over a year ago, when the Republican field was crowded with 17 candidates, no less than four of them; Scott Walker, Rick Perry, Mike Huckabee and Ted Cruz. all claimed divine inspiration to run and made it clear God favored them and wanted them to be president. What happened? The most unsavory character of them all, Donald Trump, is who Pam Olsen and her evangelical cohorts are now praying for to win. She is actually praying for a man who, in what he whimsically called locker-room banter, talks about grabbing women by the crotch, that he wanted to f*ck a woman he was not married to when he had only recently married third wife Melania, and "when you're a star, they let you do it”. As president, would Pam allow him to grope her crotch, or have sex with her while her husband was away - because he’s a star? If her answer is no, why would she support, and encourage others to support, such a person? Olsen claims Trump’s conversions on key social conservative issues is genuine and deserving of evangelical support, yet she offers not one shred of evidence that it is genuine or that he has converted. Sort of like her support for Christianity on not one shred of evidence that the bible is true.

 

        Pam simply wants to believe it, and she wants evangelicals on their knees for the next 40 days praying that this misogynistic, sexist, dishonest, shallow, and crass XY chromosome carrier attains the presidency. Why would this god they are praying to offer up a candidate who is so lacking in everything the evangelicals stand for? This man has been married three times, has claimed he didn’t need a god’s forgiveness, has called women dogs, pigs, fat slobs, bimbos, and disgusting animals, supported abortion right up until he became a Republican candidate (before then, he was a registered Democrat), claims he could shoot someone and not lose voters, and has unashamedly claimed “it doesn’t really matter what they write as long as you’ve got a young and beautiful piece of ass.” Any man of God would do the same, wouldn’t they, Pam? You would no doubt be flattered if Trump told everyone - in front of your church - that you are a “piece of ass”.

       At least his final word there accurately describes you, Pam.

The Fallacy of Voting for the "Lesser of two Evils"

The following is a blog written in October 2012 by Jon Rappoport, a former candidate for the 29^th Congressional District in California and Pulitzer Prize nominee. His observations are even more succinct four years later.

For decades, disaffected Americans have been trudging to the polls and voting for the lesser of two evils. That’s how they register their preference for a presidential candidate.

Choices based on that dubious strategy seem to work for the short-term (at best). But in the long run, the law of diminishing returns sets in.

Term after presidential term, the lesser of two evils lowers the quality of life for everyone and keeps nudging the decline of the American Republic. The hole to dig out of becomes deeper, and successive presidents—each one the lesser of two evils—are less capable and willing to do the necessary digging.

That’s the story of leadership in America.

But prompted by new and more desperate created crises, citizens resort to the “lesser” strategy every four years, believing they must.

“I’m not that enthusiastic about either man, but I have to choose one. I have to go with the lesser of two evils because this country is in real trouble.”

Where does it stop? “Look, this time, I’m picking the lesser of two evils because the national crisis is so terrible. But next time, I promise I’ll do something else.” Really? What else will you do? Hope the sun comes out?

The voter who is chronically addicted to the lesser of two evils is like a man in debt who borrows to pay it off. Each time he borrows, the debt gets bigger. He says, “I know this is crazy, but what else can I do? Borrowing from Peter to pay Paul is the lesser of two evils. If I don’t do it, I’m sunk. I promise I’ll straighten this mess out—but not right now. I have a payment coming due. I have to borrow again.”

And just like the federal debt, which keeps swelling, the election of one lesser after another as the president keeps expanding the national misery. Finally, the idea that voters can step outside the two-party system to find a real president who actually believes in the Constitution seems like a pipe dream because all the prior lessers have screwed things up so badly, have sold so out badly, have trampled on the Constitution so crazily…the shell-shocked public accepts these lessers as the status quo.

At that point, people say, “Stop all this nonsense about a third-party candidate. Get real. We have to choose from the two candidates in front of us. That’s what life and elections are all about. Be an adult. Make your decision. Go for the lesser of two evils.”

A national poll might prove quite interesting. Ask people, “In the presidential election, are you voting for the lesser of two evils? Are you voting for the candidate who is “less bad” than the other guy?”

Better yet, let’s have a candidate who says, up front, “Hi, I’m Gil Fulbright, the lesser of two evils, and I’m running for president. Let’s not kid each other. You know, I know, and everybody knows that my opponent and I are both morons and sell-outs. We got where we are by lying and stealing. What else did you expect? We’re both puppets for larger forces. But at least I’m willing to admit it. And I believe, in my heart, that I’m the lesser of two evils. What do you say? Cut me a break. I really want to live in the White House and be the commander-in-chief. And my wife? Don’t get me started on what she wants.”

So the next time a “smarter, wiser” friend, who “really knows how the world works,” tells you you’ve got to choose the lesser of two evils, realize who’s smart and who the idiot is.

Politicians won't change if they know we'll vote for them anyway. Good candidates seldom receive the support they need to become viable. The problem of bad choices are thereby perpetuated, and the nation's political process continues to deteriorate until the day when our choices will be an Adolf Hitler or a Joseph Stalin.

Liars for America - An Olympic Dream

No apologies…none…there will be no mea culpa from Ryan Lochte and the three other U.S. swimmers at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Know why? Because of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, that’s why! If it’s good enough for presidential candidates to never own up to a lie, why should it be any less for Gold Medal winning U.S. Olympians?

Donald wouldn’t apologize for being an American and neither should these world class  liars…uh, that is, athletes. Only losers apologize. Only someone who recognizes and practices right from wrong apologies. These classic American swimmers represent the best of America. The America that Donald Trump wants to make great again and that Hillary believes she is entitled to lead. We’re not great until we have athletes who can kick any other country’s ass in the pool, then kick the ass of the host countries gas station attendants who think their private property is somehow off limits to inebriated American Olympians. All the guys wanted was some respect, even if they were too drunk to understand what that was. Only security guards armed with loaded weapons put the brakes on the whole episode. And that’s just wrong. It is certain these Americans are better than Brazilians, because, you know…the Olympics. And they just won Gold. They have a right to make up any story they want explaining themselves. If they choose to blame the Brazilians for holding them accountable, who can blame them for pulling a story right out of their ass(es)?

Lochte understands, based on listening to Donald Trump and/or Hillary Clinton that he owes nothing to anyone for pissing outside a restroom, vandalizing the facility, and fighting against those attempting to prevent the swimmers from leaving the crime scene. Because those Brazilians may have become some of the rapists and drug runners Trump warned us about in 2015, or that might have read some of Hillary’s unsecured emails and provided that information to ISIS. Sure, some of them may be good people, but actually, Donald was talking about Mexicans, not Brazilians so never mind. We don’t know who read Hillary’s emails, so we can conjecture that it may have been these Brazilians, who, in a moment of sympathy for radical Islamic terrorists, supplied ISIS with some trivial nonsense that they could later claim was a reason to blow someone up. Ryan Lochte has lost his endorsement from Speedo thanks to this misunderstood episode, but as the saying goes, when one door closes, another one opens. It may be that he won’t need Speedo’s tainted money anyway. Both Trump and Clinton will need a speech writer, and given their penchant for playing fast and loose with the truth, Lochte will be the right person in the right place at the right time...an Olympic liar with the job of making two of the worst candidates for president look Abe-Lincoln-honest in comparison. Talk about an Olympic task!

God Abandons Holy Land

God has abandoned the Holy Land!

On the front page of the July 20, 2016 edition of the Orlando Sentinel is an article entitled “Holy Land will sell off Items amid financial troubles”. I wonder, why don’t the employees and even TBN honchos who still own the park pray away the debt?  Christians always insist that God listens to, and answers, all prayers…then quickly add the caveat that maybe “God’s answer is no”. But why would the biblical God ignore any appeal to keep Holy Land financially lucrative, especially when the whole purpose of the park is to lend legitimacy to the claim that the Bible is the word of God, that He is the one true heavenly father of Jesus and the actual universe-creating deity? Either the Holy Land promotes the wrong god, or He doesn’t exist.

Begging for dollars

While it may be presumptive to claim God has forsaken his flock at the Disneyesque biblical theme park in Florida’s capital for slightly tacky, money-fleecing pseudo-entertainment venues, the Sentinel reports the Holy Land is drowning in a sea of red ink. And it’s getting worse year by year.

One would think Christians, who get hard ons over watching a mock flogging and execution, would flock to the place by the millions and money would never be an issue…on the debit side, that is.

The wisdom of the Profits...uh, Prophets.

The park is being forced to sell off gaudy furniture, costumes, ornate statues, even a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. (I think in the Holy Land Experience version, Jesus arrives in Jerusalem on a bike, not an ass.) And TBN is also closing retail stores selling cheap Holy Land trinkets in Tennessee and California. In the coming months, I suspect they'll have to further auction off anything that's not nailed down. So don't worry, Jesus on the cross is safe for now.

But reading between the lines it’s apparent that, with the death of Jan Crouch last May, the big-haired, gasping gargoyle who was the theme park’s major financial backer, the Holy Land just can’t stay on its feet no matter what they do. There is only so much bullshit you can force on people before they reject it. Just ask the former Soviet Union.

Paul and Jan Crouch bought the theme park with TBN money in 2007 and propped it up with their cheesy and tasteless telethons until 2012. But even they had to finally admit the park was just a huge vacuum cleaner that sucked away all their money.
