Quetzalcoatl worked in mysterious ways - The Fall of the Duggars

Quetzalcoatl helped me because of a failure on my part. I couldn't. I just couldn't, no matter how hard I tried….produce even a single tear for Josh Duggar…or Jim Bob, Michelle and most of the ‘19 Kids and Counting’ siblings who seemingly were bred just to see how often Jim Bob and Michelle could have procreative sex. What sorrow I can spare is for the (at least) five girls who were molested by Josh over the course of two years and got the bum’s rush on justice. The Duggar parents have little to say about them, and apparently offered them virtually no solace after what their son did to them. It’s all about how “hurt” Jim Bob and Michelle are over the public’s reaction to Josh violating the girls twelve years ago. Since over a decade has passed (only because the Duggars did jack shit about it) we should let it go, and let them get on with their lives. Who cares what the girls experienced or how it affected their lives? According to Jim Bob’s interpretation of the Bible, the little girls should just keep their mouths shut, suck it up, accept blame for their immodesty (even while asleep), and continue working toward the ultimate goal of being an under-educated sperm repository capable of producing as many babies as one man, time and fate allow…education, career and equality be damned. Whatever you do girls, don’t aim high.

Bubble-headed bleach blond Megyn Kelly of Fox News will ‘interview’ them this Wednesday night and ask hard-hitting questions like “How do you cope with the meanies who make fun of your beliefs”?

And remember these Josh-endorsing clowns when it comes time to vote

It’s amazing how many people rushed to Josh’s, Jim Bob and Michelle’s defense. "Leave them alone, they say...he was just a kid...it happened 12 years ago...the family handled it in the best way...the Lord has forgiven him...there was never any need to involve law enforcement." They claim the attack on Josh is because he’s a Christian. One female writer white-washed the whole episode with “Josh was a creepy 14 year old boy. What he did was gross but it was taken care of by the people involved and everyone has moved on....12 years ago no less. I don't understand why we are calling him a child molester when he was a kid at the time, and he confessed and apologized!! There is a huge difference between what Josh Duggar did and what molesters and rapists do. Everyone here would probably be mortified if they had a light shining on their own nasty little secrets. People need to get a life.” I wonder what secrets that writer is still hiding. She thinks that what Josh did to his sisters was simply ‘gross’ and is different from what other molesters do. How does she know? What’s the criterion for determining real, (as opposed to juvenile) exploratory molestation? But according to her, it’s our fault. We didn't choose the right kind of life. We don’t have the high profile morality of the Duggars; therefore, we don’t have the right to comment on Josh avoiding justice for sexually molesting the girls. Besides, he apologized and God has forgiven him, although no one explains how they are certain of that. (I have to come clean about my own brushes with law enforcement at this point. Three times since 1970; I have been stopped for speeding violations, one for going 14 miles an hour over the posted speed limit.) If I confess to god that I am an imperfect human being, will god just forgive me too, without any belief in Jesus or a holy spirit, absolving me of all sin and making me whole in the process?

            You know things for the Duggars are completely messed up when even June Shannon of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo fame sounds like the voice of reason when she weighs in with "I read that the Duggar family said this happening with their son brought them closer to God and each other. So they're saying it's OK to have family touch time? Hell no."

I'm beginning to think that when the Duggars say they got closer to God, what they meant was G.O.D...Good Old Denial.

Here’s the problem…if you or I had done what Josh admitted to, and it was discovered, a lot worse would have happened to us…like immediate retribution, juvenile home if not prison time, severe fines, sexual predator identification, DCS case worker visits on a weekly basis until we reached 18, social stigmatization, and more. But because the Duggars have a popular TV show, and are under the protective umbrella of “terribly-persecuted and misunderstood” fundamentalist Christianity, what they allowed to go unchecked and virtually unpunished in their household is seen as nobody’s business. The innocent girls involved got no sympathy or counseling for Josh violating them. It has been reported that they were given a one sheet sexual abuse counseling exercise to complete, basically blaming them, and that’s it. That’s the limit of what Jim Bob and Michelle did for their daughters.

                         Would you trust your kid to his care?

For Josh…ooooh, the severity of the punishment! He was sent to an acquaintance to do some home remodeling work for a summer, and then given a stern ‘talking to’ by a family friend in law enforcement who knew a thing or two about sexual exploitation…because he is currently serving 56 years on child pornography charges. And yet, Christian defenders think that was enough. Josh learned his lesson and we who disagree should get a life, get off Josh’s back, and allow him to resume using his TV fame to bash LGBTs because they are a threat to children, push for the elimination of birth control, stop all abortions no matter the circumstances, promote abstinence only sex education, and cramming his brand of Christian values down everyone’s throat. When a Christian says they get their morals from the bible or from God…what they mean is that God encourages this stuff, like the Genesis account of Lot and his daughters after they fled Sodom and Gomorrah. The nut never falls far from the tree. The Duggars are just being true Christians.

                      Sometimes sacrifices must be made

            Now comes the confession…I couldn't resist. I really couldn't. See, when I recently saw Josh promote his toxic strain of Christianity, and read about how Michelle Duggar had lent her voice for a robo-call across Arkansas to defeat a transgender proposal…I prayed and I got my wish. What I did was offer a supplication to the ancient Mesoamerican god Quetzalcoatl that he would exact revenge on the Duggars, starting with that smug piece of human trash Josh…and darned if the ol’ feathered serpent-god didn't come through. Normally Quetzalcoatl requires a fresh, bloody heart as a token of faith, but he was appeased by tearing the heart out of the Duggars instead, Sweet justice that finally brought a tear to my eye, and proved that prayer does work…well, sometimes.

When massacres occur, god is behind it?

           

          On Friday, December 14, 2012, a tragedy occurred in Newtown Connecticut where twenty children and six adults were killed in a shooting rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The echoes from the gunfire had barely stopped when the kooks came out to air their impressions on what happened. One group in particular, certain Christians, conveyed the strangest explanations or rationalizations that I have ever heard. God BLESS Sandy Hook? Not since airliners were crashed into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon in September 2001 have there been so many Christian enlightenments and justifications to explain what happened, and why it happened. In a nutshell…god did it.                 
          
                I all but choked on the coffee I was sipping as I listened to one radio talk show and heard a woman, who identified herself as a God-fearing Christian, claim that God saw he needed twenty new angels (apparently He wasn’t aware of the shortage prior to casting His gaze around paradise) and set in motion the events that led to the slaughter.
                For even a second, do you consider it in good taste the implication of what she is suggesting? That God looked around, saw he had twenty fewer angels than he needed to be worshipped or entertained by, (Never mind the six adults, I guess) and sent a mentally unstable man into an elementary school to mow down 6 to 7 year old children?

Now that the killing has stopped, it's time to get on our knees to thank God, or ask God why it happened...and never get a response.

 But of course, other Christian callers quickly hastened to add their own beliefs that God didn’t know this was coming and He was simply making something good out of a bad situation by turning adolescent murder victims into instant angels. (Like making lemonade when you are handed a lemon.) They didn’t stop to think “Why would god work this way?” As the great Greek philosopher Epicurus wrote over 2400 years ago:

Is God willing to prevent evil, but is not able?  Then he is not omnipotent.

Is he able, but not willing?  Then he is malevolent.

Is he both able and willing?  Then whence cometh evil?

Is he neither able nor willing?  Then why call him God?

Why don’t Christians consider this when tragedies occur?

                On another talk show, a caller suggested that because secularists had forced god out of the schools, this is what would inevitably happen. When kids can’t pray Christian prayers in the classroom, when bibles are banned from the library, and when thanking God and Jesus at ceremonies and graduations is prohibited, then we reap what we sow…ergo, mentally unstable, heavy-armed, young, white males will automatically begin thinning out the human herd with gunfire. This caller said that God has turned His back on us because we turned our backs on Him. These kinds of Christians believe that God knows these acts will happen and, if not causing them, simply allows them to happen. I don’t see any difference between the two. It’s an act of malevolence either way.

              Do they really believe God thinks this is reasonable? Killing, or allowing to be killed, children who have done nothing to offend Him, and that they should die in such a horrific manner? What the hell kind of Christian sits around thinking this pile of garbage up? Of course, throughout the Christian bible, God DOES kill children without batting a holy eyelash. For example, God killed children in the tenth plague of Egypt. Their deaths were senseless because there were peaceful alternatives that could have accomplished His goal of getting the Hebrews released by Pharaoh and out of slavery.  When you kill children to accomplish a goal, and that goal could have been achieved without killing them, then their deaths were senseless because they weren't key to reaching that goal. The Proverb about babies being ripped from their mother’s womb certainly sounds like killing innocent kids is part of god’s plan. Also, the great flood in Genesis that only Noah and his seven family members escaped from is another classic example showing that babies and adolescents are not exempt from god's wrath. God doesn’t mind killing children at all. It just has to be for the right reasons. I deliberately didn’t seek any information about how the lunatic fringe at the Westboro Baptist Church would interpret this because I was certain they would blame the whole situation on gays. They most likely insist that, since the U.S. allows homosexuality to exist in our society, God sent this gunman into the school to bring us back to God (their version anyway) in a most shocking manner, by killing children. Homosexuality = murdering kids. WBC has perfected the non sequitur.

                After the massacre, area churches opened their doors for special services in order to make people feel better by telling God what he should do. God apparently didn't know this would happen.

                 If Christians are saying their God allowed these kids to be killed because Americans don’t have the Ten Commandments plastered everywhere, don’t go to church as frequently as they should, don’t pray enough, allow homosexuality, alcohol drinking, and even bowling on Sunday, then they are just as bad as that god they worship, if not worse. Blaming an invisible, nebulous, mysterious supernatural creature is delusional and amounts to passing the buck. However, human beings thinking it up, believing it, insisting others should believe it, and act on it as well, is nothing short of evil...man-made evil.
                God-fearing Christians...if this is the kind of god you believe in, you should be fearful. The rest of us just think you're nuts.

Magically relieved

A recent article in one of my wife’s magazines caught my eye and I wondered  how it would sound to other people who may have a different outlook. See what you think.

A woman who is a nurse in Midland Texas finds one of her daughter’s former teachers on her list of patients that night. The teacher had tyrannized and terrified her daughter at school and, even though she is very irritated over the years that her daughter suffered at the hands of this woman, the nurse decides to be professional and put on a false front as she makes her rounds. She enters the teacher’s room and instead of the monster she had envisioned all those years, she instead sees a frail, helpless woman who is lying curled up in bed, mumbling and stumbling over the words of the Lucky Charms jingle,"….pink hearts, yellow moons, orange stars, green…green…green…"  The nurse walks over, grabs the woman’s hands and completes ‘…green clovers’, and then both of them say the remainder of the jingle together… “Hearts, stars, and horseshoes. Clovers and blue moons. Pots of gold and rainbows. And me red balloons. That's me Lucky Charms. They're magically delicious.".  All of a sudden, the years of bitterness and anger over the maltreatment of her daughter melt away due to the shared reciting of the words, and she feels better. The nurse realizes that ‘Leprechauns took it away with a simple jingle.

Does this sound reasonable and believable?

                Yet if the jingle is changed to the lord’s prayer, and leprechauns changed to god as is the case in the actual article, people believe it wholeheartedly. The nurse did.

What do leprechauns and god have in common? Think about it.

It doesn’t seem to dawn on this nurse that, maybe due to her training (which she learned herself; an invisible, imperceptible supernatural  being didn’t implant it into her) she felt compassion toward a sickly-looking patient who was dealing with remorse of some sort, or was looking for an answer to her condition. Because she was raised in a nation where christianity is the dominant religion, the teacher attempts to remember a christian prayer. Had she been born in Islamabad, she would have been groping for an islamic prayer; or in Bangkok, a buddhist one. The nurse, who is also from that christian-dominated nation,  knows the words, and using her training to bring comfort and care to patients, says them with the woman to ease her mind. How is this evidence that god took away her years of resentment? Does she believe that, had she been born in Islamabad or Bangkok, the prayer she recited WOULDN’T have made her feel better? Why not?

If praying is so powerful, why not pray that the woman be healed, seek out the nurse’s daughter, and ask to be forgiven for her prior transgressions against her? Why not use this powerful praying to heal everyone’s burden no matter who they are or where they are? The nurse can make all the claims she wants, but the story provides no evidence that an invisible, imperceptible supernatural  being did anything. She simply wants to believe it. Is this how we should approach all challenges, make something up. tell ourselves that we'll believe it, and then that faith will be justified because we choose to believe? 

Looks like these protesters had enough faith in a chainsaw to make their beliefs become a reality.
